The Question:

Is there anyway that I can get the body I want within a month? Long ago I read in a SHAPE magazine that this girl lost the weight she wanted within 6 weeks and got a great body toned and everything, they even gave the workout she did and the foods she had to eat. PLEASE I'M DESPERATE TO LOSE WEIGHT!!!


The Answer:

You can generally hope for a weight loss of around 1% of your total bodyweight every week. So, if you weigh 150 pounds you could expect to lose about 1-2 pounds (1%) of weight per week. Most people will start to visually notice a difference in their body when they have lost at least 5% of their total bodyweight. At 1% percent per week it would take 5 weeks to start seeing physical changes. Try to be patient and learn how to exercise and eat healthy. Remember, it won't do you any good if you starve yourself and frantically exercise to lose weight if you don't learn how to keep it off in the long run. Think about this, it probably took you at least a few years to gain the weight and get out of shape. Give yourself at least a few months to take it off! Make a long-term lifestyle change and you will be much happier and healthier with what you can accomplish.
