The Question:

I have been working out with a Soloflex machine. After stumbling across your incredibly informative site, I am going to start your Get Lean Program. Is a Soloflex machine compatible within your many programs? Is the (band-type) weight resistance the same? (i.e. Is a 20lb band equal to a 20lb weight)

The Answer:

The 20 pound band is not going to be the same as lifting a 20 pound free weight, but that's ok. This will sound strange but the key is just to start tracking your own weights. Any machine that has resistance may feel different from similar machines or even from person to person. What if each Soloflex band said 100 pounds or 1000 pounds instead of 20 pounds on it? If you can still lift the weight or overcome the resistance in your case, you should increase the "weight" of your program.

Once you get all the weights adjusted you will be able to be more organized when it comes to following a program and lifting harder at times and easier at others. You can make adjustments to the weight of any exercise that is on your program at any time so give it a shot!
